Where do I get all the coupons?
Steps you should do to get the most coupons and the most savings
1) You should get the newspaper delivered to your house
A) The Pueblo Chieftain ($6.95/month for the 1st 6 months)
B) The Denver Post (weekends are only $2.75/month)
The coupons are slightly different in each one. The amount off is sometimes different and there are more coupons in one than the other sometimes. I can't really say either one is better but there are more coupons in the Denver Post than the Chieftain, but the Chieftain has higher value coupons sometimes. However, other times they are exactly the same. You never know.
2) You should buy extra papers at the Loaf N Jug or any other store if they're are good coupons. Just this last week there were coupons for .75 off of Kraft Barbecue sauce and $1.50 off Kraft salad dressing. From experience, I know that it will eventually amount to FREE Barbecue sauce and FREE salad dressing. So I would have bought an extra paper or two for $0.75 because the Free Barbecue sauce would offset the cost of the paper and I would ultimately get free salad dressing and some other things that I have not found a good deal on yet.
3) Ask friends, neighbors and relatives to save the coupon inserts for you if they do not use them. Even if they use a few coupons out of it, they will likely miss the deals that you will learn are still hidden in there. Also, I reward the people with things that are free that I know they will use. (like a co-worker that feeds stray cats, he will take any free cat food I get)
4) Either buy, at Walmart ($2.24/issue), or subscribe ($1.25/issue) to a magazine called "All You" it's the same concept as the newspaper. You will get the money back from the purchase if you even use just a few coupons it has inside. (2 months ago, there was a coupon for free mascara valued at almost $7) it was worth it. It comes out once a month about mid-month for the following month.
5) Download coupons to your Safeway and King Soopers Card. There are 3 websites:
A)PG & E saver
B)Shortcuts
C)Cellfire
You must have your Card number and you must sign up. These coupons will work in conjunction with real coupons. For example: I have downloaded a coupon from Cellfire to my KingSoopers card for $1 off Yoplait yogurt 4 pack. I then have a real coupon for $1.50 off the yogurt. The yogurt costs $2.50. When I swipe my card it will deduct the $1 then the coupon will take off $1.50, so my yogurt is FREE.
These coupons update every 3 weeks or so and you have to keep adding them every 3 weeks. Only one coupon will load and you can only use it once. But hey I got free yogurt right? With a few clicks of my mouse.
6) Print coupons from the Internet. There are several sites:
http://coupons.com/, http://couponbug.com/, http://redplum.com/, http://smartsource.com/, http://kraftfoods.com/, http://bettycrocker.com/, all grocery store web sites, the list goes on and on.
So far, Safeway, KingSoopers, Albertsons/GroceryWarehouse, Target they all will accept Internet Coupons (IP's). But sometimes, they will give you hassles because they do not understand their companies corporate coupon policies. And there has been a ton of fraud concerning people misusing these coupons. The company loses money on copied/reprinted coupons. So I understand their hesitation, but there are many reasons that I believe they should accept coupons from us honest people. I usually just ask them to take the item off my order and make sure to get the coupon back and either try another day or you can go to the service desk and talk to the manager.
You are allowed and can usually print two coupons per item. You just hit the back button until the coupon prints again. If you hit back a third time it will say something like "coupon print limit reached".
7) Look for coupons on packages in the store (peelies) you can take a coupon from the package and you don't have to use it on that item until you find a good deal. I will usually only take 1 or 2 at the most. These are put on the packages when the item is usually at it's highest price. You just file the coupon and wait for the sale. There are also things called wine-tags that are around the neck of bottles in the store. They are usually coupons or rebates or 'try me free' rebates. Same rules apply for these take a couple and wait.
8) Look for coupon holders in the isles that blink. Hence the name 'blinkies' same rules apply for these coupons take a couple and wait for the sale. I usually take 2 or 4 of these. One time I was at King Soopers and butter was on sale for $0.88 right in front of the butter was a blinkie for $.55 off so a pound of butter was $.33. The lady right next to me did not even notice until I pointed it out to her. Then a line started forming at the butter and the blinkie machine. I usually don't even have to look for these because the kids have little eyes that see them for miles around. They are on the job in a flash and they love to collect these coupons for me. These coupons do not double, usually. Only coupons that start with a 5 in the bar code double the ones with 9 do not double and it never matters if the coupon says do not double just look for the 5.
